Future Voices: Long Play Competition Winners will showcase scripts exclusively for neat14!

16 May 2014

The winning scripts from Long Play 2014 - our new full-length playwriting competition for East Midlands based writers - will be showcased at neat 14, Nottingham European Arts and Theatre Festival - a nine day festival celebrating the very best theatre and art from across Europe and the city.

A rehearsed reading of the winning play Unforgettable by Tim Elgood , will take place on Tuesday 27 May at 7pm, in the Neville Studio at Nottingham Playhouse. Unforgettable is about the unique relationship of a brother and sister, Jed and Rosie, as they face life's major challenges together. Moving in and out of different time frames, the play explores memory, change and loss in a rich and inventive way.

A Derbyshire based writer, Tim's first play A Stone's Throw from Edward, was performed at Buxton International Arts Festival and won the Granada Foundation Award.  He has written extensively for youth and community theatre groups at Derby Playhouse and has also had several plays performed at various venues across the East Midlands, including The Pros, The Cons and A Screw (Derby Theatre) and Mother Came Too (Derby LIVE).

Alongside this exclusive rehearsed reading of Tim Elgood's play at 7pm, will be readings from the two runners up - Ollie Smith's The Man Upstairs and Blue Moon by Mufaro Makibika - both are Nottingham based theatre makers. The Man Upstairs and Blue Moon will also take place in the Neville Studio at the earlier time of 4pm. Both readings are FREE, but it is advisable to book in advance.

We will also be supporting an exciting and interactive performance of The Litvinenko Project by Nottingham-based company 2Magpies. This will be performed at various locations throughout neat14 - tickets are £5.

For more information, or to book tickets for all of these events, contact Nottingham Playhouse Box Office on 0115 941 9419 or visit www.nottinghamplayhouse.co.uk

We look forward to seeing you there!
