(Devised by Jack McNamara and Thibault Delferiere)

Monday 22 May | 7.30pm | Surface Gallery, 16 Southwell Road, Sneinton NG1 1DL

The physical challenges of daily life are the stuff of Greek myth.

According to the Greek myth, Sisyphus is condemned to roll a rock up to the top of a mountain, only to have the rock roll back down again every time he reaches the top. Belgian performance artist Thibault Delferiere uses his body, paint and objects to confront the inevitability of repetition in a world premiere performance, exploring how the futility of Sisyphus' punishment relates to the daily challenges of life with a unique body.

Controlled physicality and masterful command are hallmarks of this rare and captivating-work in-progress performance by one of Europe's most distinctive disabled performance artists, with live music from Sicilian guitarist Giuseppe Lomeo.

Over the past 20 years Thibault Delferiere has presented over sixty performances and collaborations worldwide. New Perspectives is delighted to welcome Thibault to the UK for this rare opportunity to experience his unique working practice.

New Perspectives is an East Midlands based national touring theatre company, with a specialty in creating dynamic performances for rural audiences. We make ambitious and original theatre, focusing on new writing, adaptations and revivals, which we present in community settings and venues nationally and internationally. We provide career defining training and mentoring opportunities for emerging regional talent and manage the rural touring scheme Northants Touring Arts .
